FAQ

How much does a hair transplant cost?

The price depends on the state of the hair and is determined at the consultation. It can also be determined informatively by means of photos. The price of the procedure ranges from 700 to 2400 EUR.

Must the head be completely shaved for the procedure?

This depends on the extent of the procedure. We need about 1 mm of hair for extraction. Sometimes it is sufficient to shave the extraction site at the back or sides. With longer hair (at least 4 cm), the shaved area can be covered. Shorter hair can be shaved gradually at the back until invisible, although small dots will be visible about one week after the procedure. The cut at the recipient site depends on its particular state. At temples, for example, the entire head does not have to be shaved. If a larger area between hair is thickened, shaving to 1 mm improves the course of the procedure. If, despite our recommendations, your hair cannot be shaved, the procedure will take longer and the price will be higher.

Are wounds visible after the procedure and when do they disappear?

These are tiny wounds which heal after about one week after the procedure. The tip of the graft with 1 mm of hair is visible at the recipient site. Small scabs usually fall off around the 10th-14th day. Appearance after the procedure depends on the type of skin and follicule.

Is transplanted hair permanent

Yes, because they are extracted from areas where hair does not fall out because of androgenic alopecia and this characteristic is retained at the new site too. After the procedure some hair may fall out temporarily but will start growing again gradually after a few months. It varies from person to person.

Will hair grow back at the extraction site?

Extracted follicules will not grow anymore, but enough hair remains at the extraction site to cover the thinned out area. If, by any chance, some hair bulb is not extracted completely, it will grow back. With transplanting, the total amount of hair does not change but is just placed elsewhere.

When can one return to work? And when can one do sport?

One week after the procedure it is most important not to disturb the implanted hair mechanically, that means no touching, scratching, combing or hitting. Wash according to instructions from the 4th day. Physical exertion must be restricted for 2-3 weeks. Returning to work depends of the type of work.

Is the procedure painful?

The procedure is performed under local anesthesia. The start of anesthesia is sensitive, but then isn`t painful anymore. This depends also on the extent of the procedure, sensitivity and pain threshold of the patient.

What hair thickness can be achieved?

About 70% in comparison with normal hair thickness, per procedure. The hair can be supplemented and thickness improved up to 80-90% at the earliest after one year. Original hair thickness cannot be achieved through transplants.

Can the original hair condition be achieved?

No, as the extraction site is limited. The correct course of action must be chosen at the beginning to ensure a natural appearance.

What is the maximum number of grafts/hairs that can be transplanted?

A maximum of 2000 grafts / 4000 hairs during one procedure, if the extraction site and the course of procedure is standard. The maximum number of grafts for extraction during several procedures is around 5000 (about 10 000 hairs), but it differs from person to person.

How many grafts can be done in one day?

As the procedure is time-consuming, I recommend a maximum of 1000 grafts per day. A maximum of 3 hours extraction. If necessary, it can be continued the next day.

How many hairs does one graft contain?

1 graft is 1 follicular unit, which contains 1-3 hairs. That means 1 graft = on average 2 hairs.

When will the result be visible?

It varies from person to person. New hair usually grows within 3-8 months. The end result can be assessed after 12 months.

How long does one wait for a consultation and procedure?

A consultation is usually arranged within 2-3days. Mainly between 16.00 and 18.00. The waiting time for a procedure is usually 2-4 weeks.

How long does the procedure take?

3 to 8 hours. This includes preparation and breaks. The starting time is between 8 and 9 am.

Is the procedure suitable for everyone?

Hair transplantation is suitable for androgenic alopecia (typical male hair loss). Hair must be of normal thickness and in a good, healthy condition at the extraction site. It is also suitable for women if they suffer from this type of hair loss. Suitability of the procedure for other types of alopecia is assessed at a consultation.

Can complications arise after the procedure?

There are usually no complications. Mild swelling of the forehead (2-3 days) is also rare. To prevent inflammation, antibiotics are taken for 4-5 days.

Could existing hair be damaged with thickening?

We use a favourable method, but there must be a distance of at least 2 mm between hairs for an graft implant to be made.

Which method do you use?

We have been using the FUE method since 2004. It is the least invasive method, without cutting and stitching.

Is it necessary to undergo the procedure several times?

Hair thickening can be carried out, if necessary, at the earliest after one year. According to the extent and further development of hair loss, more procedures can then be performed. A maximum of 5000 grafts.

Must any medication be taken before or after the procedure?

It`s not necessary before the procedure and after the procedure we prescribe antibiotics and painkillers as needed.

How successfully are transplanted hairs assimilated?

We expect a 90-100% rate of assimilation of new hairs.

Which time of the year is the procedure most suitable?

All year round. It`s less suitable during extremely hot summer weather.
